Staff and pupils at Halstead’s largest primary school are celebrating after inspectors rated the school ‘good’ across every category, following two years of significant changes to leadership and teaching.
The report singled out reading standards, noting that younger pupils were making strong progress and that the school had built a consistent approach to phonics. Inspectors also described a calmer, more settled atmosphere in classrooms and corridors.
Areas praised in the report
The findings mark a clear step up from the previous inspection and will be welcomed by families who stuck with the school through a period of uncertainty.
- Reading and early literacy results above expectation
- Improved behaviour and attendance across year groups
- Stronger support for pupils with additional needs
- A broad curriculum beyond the core subjects
Governors said the result reflected two years of steady work rather than a quick fix, and thanked parents for their patience during the transition. The next challenge, they added, is holding those standards while numbers on roll continue to rise.
